Model Print Contest
About the Contest
The New England Camera Club
Council, Inc. is pleased to host an annual print contest focused on the NECCC
conference models. The model committee strives to provide the most talented,
photogenic, and versatile models that it can for the July weekend. Part of the
allure for our models is the fact that they gain valuable modeling experience
during the weekend. It's also a great opportunity for them to receive prints for
their portfolios from numerous photographers.
The Council, and in particular the models, appreciate all the photographs
submitted in the past and wish to reward and recognize those participants. As
such, a model print contest is held each year. The purpose of the competition is
two-fold. The obvious one is to generate more prints for the models, thus
rewarding their efforts a little bit more. The second is to reward and give some
recognition to those photographers who send in prints each year. The Council
hopes that this competition will add to the fun of the weekend.
So how does it work? First of all, you must have registered and attended the
conference. We will be checking registrations. Check the main hall outside
Campus Center Room 176 (Lower Level) for a board with pictures of the models and
a posted schedule. Photos taken of these models should be printed and mailed to
us (see below) to be entered into competition. That's all there is to it! Of
course, the more prints you send in, the better your chances of winning. So send
in those prints!
It should be noted that any prints sent in will not be returned to
the photographer. They will be given to the models to be used in their
portfolios.
Rules
1. Prints: Prints
must be of NECCC sponsored models, photographed at the NECCC conference the year
of the competition. Both black and white and color prints are acceptable. PLEASE
DO NOT MOUNT THE PRINTS; mounted prints are not eligible (they are not usable in
portfolios). Prints may be made by a commercial lab or by the photographer.
Prints will not be returned to the photographer. The prints will
be given to the models to be used in their portfolios. 8x10" or 8.5x11" prints are
preferred, but any print 5x7" or larger will be considered for competition.
Note: Any print smaller than 5x7 is not eligible to win a prize but will still
be given to and appreciated by the models. Remember to put your name and address
on all prints; while they are being judged, they are separated
from their envelopes which have the name and address.
2. Eligibility: Open to all registered NECCC Conference participants.
Model Committee members are not eligible to win prizes.
3. Deadline: All entries must be received no later than
October 31 of the
competition year. Judging will be done the first week in November, and winners
will be announced in the Winter and Spring editions of the
NECCC Bulletin and on the NECCC website. Anyone
wishing to receive an early copy of the results may do so by enclosing a
stamped, self-addressed envelope with their entry. Or for quicker results,
include an e-mail address.
4. Judges: The panel of judges will be made up of NECCC officers and
committee members. Judging will be based on composition, print quality, impact,
photographic technique, rapport with the models, originality.
5. Prizes: Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
places will be awarded in the amounts of $75, $50, and $40 respectively. A
special $75 award will be given for the most prints entered (all different of
course, and of portfolio quality, 8x10" or larger).
6. Publication of winning prints: All prize winning and Honorable Mention
prints will be published in the NECCC Bulletin. Permission to publish
in the Bulletin and on the NECCC website is assumed with your entry. If
you do not want your winning print published in the Bulletin or on the website,
you must include a note with your entries denying permission. We would also like
to place digital scans of some non-winning prints on the NECCC website as well.
If you do not want your image(s) published on the NECCC website, please include
a note with your entries stating such.
7. How to enter: Send all prints with your name and address prior to the
deadline to Skip Hoyt, 12 Ide St., Reading, MA 01867-2752. Any
questions or clarifications can be e-mailed to
Skiphoto@comcast.net.
