Scholarship Program
The Articles of Incorporation of NECCC stipulate that a fund is established to support “education of a student or students in aspects of photography.” Each year several scholarships are awarded, often providing funds for each of a student’s four years of study.
Applications are due 1 April each year.
Application Requirements
- The applicant must be a legal resident of one of the New England States or attending a New England College/University.
- The applicant must have been accepted in or continuing in, a program leading to a degree in some aspect of photography (film making. video production, programming and photography app development), in an accredited school or institute. The degree program may be either a two or four year program. The degree program can be at the undergraduate or graduate level. A professional certificate from an accredited institution is also acceptable. If applicant is pursuing photographic education in a venue other than college, contact Antoinette Gombeda (agombeda@optonlne.net) to see if studies may qualify for a special NECCC Grant.
- The application must be processed through a Camera Club affiliated with NECCC. (Antoinette can help with this if the student is not associated with such a club.)
- The applicant should submit current letters of recommendation, references and other statements concerning work, school and professional achievements for each year the student applies for a scholarship. These should be from teachers, professors, clergy and other associates who know and have worked with the applicant. Prepare these as PDFs, place them in a folder and save the folder as a .zip file for the online form.
- A letter written by the applicant should be submitted. This letter should tell us about you, the student — what you have done in the photographic field, what you have done academically, what your goals are, how you plan to achieve them and what other interests you may have. We would like to get some insight about you through this letter. Prepare this as PDFs for the online form.
- An official sealed transcript of the applicant’s recent grades, college if recent and high school if college is not applicable, must be included. If applying online, send transcript separately to Antoinette Gombeda, address below.
- Submit a statement, attested to by an official of the school being attended, declaring that the student has been accepted into the degree program and what degree will be conferred. Prepare this as PDFs for the online form.
- Submit a brief statement of need for financial assistance. Do not submit family income, tax statements or other confidential information. Prepare this as PDFs for the online form.
- Please submit a disc or thumb drive with 15 to 20 images of your work so we can review a mini-portfolio of your work. Images you send should be of the quality you would send to a prospective employer. They should show your skills as a photographer, your interests and your creativity. Alternatively, the image files may be consolidated into a .zip file and sent via the online form.
- The deadline for completed applications to be received by the Committee Chairman is April 1 of each year.
